Volunteer With Us
Volunteers are the backbone of FHRP. We appreciate and value all of our volunteers!
Our volunteers include community members, school and youth sports groups, summer youth workers, and students from area universities and more. Our volunteer pool keeps on growing! What a great group!
In 2023, FHRP volunteers provided over 2500 volunteer hours, attended one or more of our 60+ events, and donated financially to our organization. Because FHRP was able to leverage this community support, this year we:
- Increased family and children’s programming by introducing kid-focused bird walks, youth-involved water testing, and a Family & Children’s Area at the Tuesday Farmers Market at 4500 Harford Road;
- Mobilized advocacy for Herring Run Parks to stop damaging stream restoration in the Western Herring Run and have bollards installed at the Lower Herring Run, Shannon Drive entrance to lessen dumping and ecological damage in the area;
- Planted 151 new trees; pruned, watered and mulched over 80 young trees to help them thrive; and
- removed over 6700 pounds of trash from the park.
